LATEST NEWS: Warmachine: New Releases, App Improvements and Release Dates: Cryx Necrofactorium - Steamforged Games

Hail Mighty Readers and Followers of the Luck Gods Rocks,

Warmachine from Steamforged Games, this weeks releases from Tuesday and Wednesday is getting us into the feels this week as the Undead are taking over.  With the Cryx Armada STL's launching yesterday.

Here's what SFG had to say:

"The Cryx Necrofactorium has risen with a refreshed range of boxes, giving you a new way to raise the dead, grow your forces and send your enemies screaming back to the grave, only to be risen again. Following the positive response to the Army Box format introduced with Dusk: Fane of Nyrro, we’re bringing the same approach to Cryx.

The new range is available now, so there’s no need to wait for the next full moon. Unleash the Necrofactorium's undead horrors today!

Cryx Necrofactorium – A new way to raise the dead

Ready to dig up a new army? The refreshed Cryx Necrofactorium range brings together three Army Boxes, a new Command Set and individual light and heavy warjack boxes. Whether you’re starting your collection from the ground up or adding a few more nightmares to the horde, there’s now a clearer path from your first models to a full-blown legion of the dead.

Each Army Box contains a complete force of around 50 points, ready to shuffle straight onto the battlefield. There are three different boxes to choose from, each offering its own mix of models and playstyles. Pick your favourite, or combine boxes as you work towards a 100-point army. Building your forces has never been less of a grave undertaking!

Legions of the Dead

Join the Legion of the Dead.

Lord of Damnation

Serve the lord of damnation.

Wraithbinder’s Host

Take your place in the Wraithbinder's host.

These replace the previous Cryx Necrofactorium Core Expansion and Auxiliary Expansion, giving you a fresh way to build your forces.

Fresh boxes, familiar horrors

Already commanding Cryx? Keep your thralls close. Your existing army isn’t going anywhere!

The models themselves remain fully playable. This is a reboxing refresh, not a resurrection of an entirely new range. We’re simply giving the existing collection a new format that makes it easier for newcomers to get started and veterans to expand their undead ranks.

There are a couple of things worth digging up, though. The Mechanithrall Swarm Warden, released last month, now joins the Legions of the Dead and Lord of Damnation Army Boxes. Legions of the Dead also includes a new set of variant-sculpt Mechanithralls, giving collectors another way to customise their shambling hordes.

Want those variant Mechanithralls without buying the whole box? They’ll also be available separately through warmachine.gg and your local Warstore. No need to raise the whole graveyard if you only want a few more bodies!

Boneyard Keeper and the warjack boxes

Not every aspiring necromancer needs an army-sized horde on day one. Sometimes, you need to start small before the dead start piling up.

The new Boneyard Keeper 30-point Command Set replaces the previous Command Starter, providing a smaller force and a great way to get to grips with Warmachine. It’s a solid starting point for new commanders ready to discover what makes Cryx Necrofactorium such a terrifying force on the tabletop.

Prefer your undead with a little more machinery? The new Malefactor heavy warjack and Raptor light warjack boxes replace the previous Battlegroup Box. Both include all available loadout options, giving you the freedom to build the configuration you want.

What happens to the old boxes?

Even the dead have to make room eventually.

The previous Command Starter, Battlegroup Box, Core Expansion and Auxiliary Expansion are being discontinued. Once existing stock runs out, those boxes will shuffle off this mortal shelf for good, although you may still find them at your local game store while stocks last. Find out more in this article.

New app version release

We’ve been working behind-the-scenes on a big app update including bug fixes, general clean up, and quality-of-life improvements.

This includes a major fix for the “Startup Failed” bug that’s been preventing some folks from using the app. Otherwise, it’s a bunch of little improvements that add up to a lot.

Some highlights include the addition of single button damage tracking (where you’ll be able to tap the heart to fill the bar) and the introduction of a brand new bug reporting form which you can access through the app menu, to make it even easier for us to track and resolve issues.

Pending iOS and Android store approval, we should see the update green lit for launch in the next couple of days. Please note this is a whole new version release, not a data release, so you’ll need to fully update your app when it lands.

Warmachine 3D live preview – November Tribe drop

Join us on YouTube for a live preview of next month’s STL drop!

Find out what goodies (or baddies, depending on your perspective) Tribe subscribers will be getting in November, and get the first look at some new model rules while we’re at it…

Tuesday October 27

First Menoth release – Defenders of the Flame Command Set

All those faithful who’ve been patiently awaiting salvation can rejoice, because Defenders of the Flame releases next Tuesday!

Accompanied by the Revenger and Crusader warjacks, also releasing Tuesday, this blessed drop heralds a blazing new age (if Feora has anything to say about it). We can’t wait to see all your paint schemes and battle reports!

If you picked up the army bundle from warmachine.gg, you’ll also be receiving the exclusive Four Gifts cards in the Classic edition colourway.

Refresh yourself on Defenders of the Flame rules to get ready for their arrival.

Last chance for Fanevania Ashmael MiniCrate

Every month, MiniCrate brings you a new alternate sculpt: a Warmachine character that's been reimagined, produced in a single limited run, and fully playable in your army.

Ashmael went full vampire in the October MiniCrate, and what better way to celebrate the spooky season?

You’ve got until October 27 to grab this limited edition warcaster variant before he disappears into a cloud of bats. We didn’t think Fane could get any more extra after the Warmachine 3D extreme variants dropped, but alas…

Wednesday October 28

New MiniCrate – Llaelese Liaison Locke

Every month, MiniCrate brings you a new alternate sculpt: a Warmachine character that's been reimagined, produced in a single limited run, and fully playable in your army.

Available from October 28, the Llaelese Liaison Locke variant (try saying that five times fast) represents Locke’s time spent travelling between Ord and Llael following the Infernal War, and her role as a secret observer for the Convergence of Cyriss while serving the Crucible Guard.

Locke sees her work as a form of devotion to her goddess, Cyriss. She’s careful to redirect the Guard away from Convergence holdings in Llael to protect her erstwhile allies.

So far, she’s been spared the choice between her two loyalties, finding ways to achieve the Crucible Guard’s goals while also serving her faith. Whether this remains possible in future is yet to be seen.

LATEST NEWS: The Undead March this Week - Warmachine

Hail Mighty Readers and Followers of the Luck Gods Rocks,

Warmachine from Steamforged Games, this weeks releases from Tuesday and Wednesday is getting us into the feels this week as the Undead are taking over.  With the Cryx Armada STL's launching yesterday.

Here's what SFG had to say:

"A monstrous new 80mm solo for Dusk Fane of Nyrro dominates today’s releases, plus a reminder of the major army reboxings currently up for pre-order and the imminent launch of Cryx’s new army in STL form.

Styrge Abhorreth – Bigger, meaner, hungrier

The Styrge Hounds were already dangerous. Give them a few years, a sprawling network of underground catacombs to claim as their own, and absolutely no reason to share, and you get something much worse…Styrge Abhorreth!

As these creatures grow, they leave their packs behind and claim vast stretches of the Fane of Nyrro’s underground territories. Anything unfortunate enough to wander into their domain becomes prey.

But the Fane don’t simply leave these monsters to their own devices. Captured and put to work, each Abhorreth is paired with a dedicated rider from the Fane Knights. Through their bond, these mage riders channel the beast’s fury into fell magic, unleashing its savage power against the enemy while helping protect allies from incoming missiles.

Together, rider and warbeast form a terrifying pair, combining raw strength with dark magic to bring the Abhorreth’s destructive instincts under the Fane’s command.

Released today! Get your Styrge Abhorreth now.

It’s a great time to get into Cryx

Styrge Abhorreth may be dominating today’s releases, but Cryx are about to swarm the field.

Not only is the Cryx Dread Armada FronTier launching this Thursday (October 15) — an entire new Prime army for Cryx — but Cryx Necrofactorium have also been given a major refresh.

Releasing October 20, the updated Cryx Necrofactorium sets breathe new life into the undead, reorganising the army into a new Command Set, three army boxes, and light and heavy warjack sets including all their modular options.

The Command Set includes a ~30-point force for command level games, while each army box includes a ~50-point force designed for skirmish battles. Mix, match, and combine sets to create your own 100-point forces.

If you’re already collecting Cryx, your existing models are still fully playable. This update is designed to make building a Necrofactorium army more straightforward. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to live your best Cryxian life, now’s the time.

Not one’s to be left in the dust, Cygnar Storm Legion also have an electrified new range up for pre-order. It’s a great day to start building a Warmachine army!

Cryx Dread Armada launches October 15

…Of course, you could always print your army. We’re talking, of course, about the Cryx Dread Armada FronTier launching this Thursday (October 15)!

This FronTier is your best opportunity to bag a brand new, fully playable Prime army for a major Warmachine faction in STL form at a bundle discount. If you’re thinking the Dread Armada could be the crew for you, make sure you hit that “Get Notified” button.

The Dread Armada may be new as a playable army, but they’re steeped in Warmachine lore. These pirates have been around for a while and have more than earned their dreadful reputation. Look out for the return of the legendary Pirate Queen herself, Skarre Ravenmane, and formidable Lord Terminus, both included in the FronTier.

Our channels have been awash with Dread Armada previews, and we’re not done yet. Head to YouTube and dive into a treasure trove of rules and reveals ready for the big launch on Thursday!

New Protectorate of Menoth lore incoming

Cryx may be dominating the high seas but let’s not lose sight of Menoth’s holy light.

With the launch of this incendiary new army burning hot on the horizon, we’ll uncover the details behind the reemergence of Menoth’s most faithful in The Pilgrimage, Part II. Read it in next Monday’s Loremachine, October 19.

Missed Part I? Catch up here.

NEWS: Warmachine: Whats being released, World Team Championship and prepare for the Cryx Dread Armada - Steamforged Games

Hail Mighty Readers and Followers of the Luck Gods Rocks,

Prepare thyselves today sees the launch of Cygar's Storm Legion, for Warmachine from Steamforged Games, its going to be tough to pick which is your favourite, so you might want to put one or two on your Christmas list.  There's also news for the Thornfall Alliance, Mercenary Captain Dunax, and Dozer and Kithguards Dozer and Smidge plus don't forget about the forthcoming Cryx Dread Armada if you're into STL's...

Here's what they had to say:

Tuesday Launches – Cygnar, Kithguard, and more

Things are looking incendiary this week, with electrics and explosives galore!

Cygnar’s Storm Legion is charging into the future with a refreshed range, Dozer & Smigg are bringing enough firepower to Kithguard make subtlety irrelevant, mercenary Captain Dunax has arrived with a healthy appreciation for explosives, and Dr Arkadius is once again “improving” on the Farrow of Thornfall Alliance.

Start your Cygnar Storm Legion army

Not ones to be left behind, Storm Legion spotted the new range format we deployed with Fane of Nyrro (and soon, Cryx Necrofactorium) and demanded they be next in line.

The update reorganises Cygnar’s electrified army into a new Command Set, three army boxes, and light and heavy warjack sets including all their modular options.

The Command Set includes a ~30-point force for command level games, while each army box includes a ~50-point force designed for skirmish battles. Mix, match, and combine sets to create your own 100-point forces. If you’ve been looking to give Storm Legion a go, now’s a great time.

And if you’ve already started collecting Storm Legion, there’s no need to short circuit: the models aren’t changing. Everything you already own is still fully playable, with the new range simply reorganising the models into a format that’s better for growing the game, making it more straightforward to start collecting Storm Legion.

Like the Cryx Necrofactorium refresh, the current Storm Legion sets will be discontinued in future when stock runs out. If you’re partway through building your army, you can keep going as you are, and you might be able to grab the current sets from your local game store shelves while stocks last.

Check out Cygnar’s recharged range and see where your next charge takes you.

Dozer & Smigg bring the big gun to Kithguard

Released today, this howitzer-toting super heavy duo are now available for your Southern Kriels Kithguard armies. Dozer provides the muscle, Smigg the (questionable) accuracy, and together they form one of the biggest guns you can haul to the battlefield.

Of course, putting a howitzer on a dire troll was never going to be straightforward. Dozer had to learn that the enormous explosions strapped to his back were, in fact, supposed to happen. Smigg, meanwhile, somehow survived long enough to become his permanent gunner.

Now, this pair are ready for you to bring the thunder.

Want to discover just how much damage this walking artillery piece can dish out? Check out the gameplay spotlight and find out how Dozer & Smigg work on the battlefield.

Mercenary Captain Dunax brings the boom

Captain Barl “Demolisher” Dunax is no stranger to things going “bang”.

He learned his trade under the legendary warcaster Durgen Madhammer, and now brings that experience to Cygnar Gravediggers, Khador Winter Korps, Protectorate of Menoth Covenant of the Flame, Southern Kriels Kithguard and the Rhul Guard. Dunax isn’t just interested in blowing up enemy positions, either. His engineering background makes him equally valuable when it comes to helping allies get the most out of their fortifications.

Captain Dunax is out now to add to your Gravediggers, Winter Korps, Covenant of the Flame, Kithguard or Rhul Guard forces. Want to know if he’s right for you? Check out today’s gameplay spotlight for a preview of what this mighty dwarf can do!

Thornfall Alliance – Back in the lab

Dr Arkadius has been experimenting on Farrow again, and his latest creations are now ready to hit the battlefield. The Thornfall Alliance Core Expansion brings together a whole collection of Arkadius’ latest work, from hardened Brigands and stealthy Commandos to those mechanikal monstrosities, the Chainbelchers.

Road Hog has been built for speed and destruction, tearing ahead of the force to torch fortifications and smash enemy positions. Splatter Boar brings volatile alchemical firepower, while the Chainbelchers have been given mechanikal fists and (apparently) told charging headfirst into obstacles counts as a combat strategy.

The good doctor has spent plenty of time reshaping flesh, bone, and machinery into weapons. This is what happens when he gets to keep experimenting. Check out the Thornfall Collection to support Arkadius’ fine work, here on the website or over on MyMiniFactory.

Loremachine – Who is the Cryx Dread Armada warcaster, Captain Malroan?

All hands on deck! The Cryx Dread Armada FronTier is sailing toward launch on October 15, bringing a brand new army for a major faction into Warmachine 3D.

This week, we're turning our spyglass toward a captain even Warmachine veterans won't have encountered before.

Although the Dread Armada is recruiting some familiar faces from other Cryxian fleets, Eydis Malroan isn't among them. No, this Wraith Captain has never before been seen on the tabletop — but don't mistake her for a lowly scallywag. She may be new to you, but Eydis has sailed under more than one flag and left more than a few enemies wishing they'd never crossed her path. She has a particular talent for trouble, even after death.

So grab your cutlass and batten down the hatches. It’s time to hand over to our resident Loremaster, Sherwin Matthews, and find out how Eydis Malroan went from pirate captain to wraith of the Broken Coast…

Once a mercenary warcaster whom sailed from the lawless Ordic port of Five Fingers, Eydis Malroan was known across the underworld as not only a pirate captain but also for her lack of scruples and willingness to work for any client, including the agents of the Nightmare Empire—assuming, of course, their purses matched her demands.

Although typically her marks were desperate merchants or rheumy-eyed old sailors chasing rumors of shipwrecks and lost fortunes, Malroan made her best coin in times of war between the nations of the Iron Kingdoms. From simple and discreet escort duty or arms smuggling, all the way to sinking merchantman shipping or raiding a local fort, few tasks were beyond Malroan’s self-appointed remit, nor her boastful claims during negotiations.

As it was for many mercenaries, the extended peacetime following the Infernal War bought only misery to Malroan’s door as contracts dried up. Desperate and increasingly addled by liquor, she turned to dueling—half for the coins thrown by baying crowds in the underground fighting pits, and the rest in the backstreets to resolve disagreements caused by her drunken behaviour. Her finest kill was an aging gun mage, whose corpse she liberated of the magelock pistols of his trade. Thereafter the weapons became part of her growing infamy, attracting ever more deadly opponents, and with them, greater rewards.

Her story might have ended there, were it not for a duel with the son of a rich Cygnaran baron. Barely more than eighteen, the brash youth’s challenge ended almost on the spot, but in the aftermath Malroan found herself fleeing the authorities as his dismayed father put a hefty bounty upon her head. Untrusting of her peers in Five Fingers and unable to find refuge in Cygnar, Malroan and her crew fled Ord, escaping her pursuers amongst the islands that made up the Broken Coast. For several months, bounty hunters prowled the Cygnaran coastline, awaiting her return. Over time, when no such evidence was found, even the attention of the outraged Baron wandered, and stories of Malroan faded from memory.

Malroan’s ship returned some five years after her disappearance, as a vessel in the Nightmare Empire’s Pirate Fleet. Malroan herself had been transformed into a baleful wraith. There was little of the shrewd mercenary she had once been in her bearing; were it not for the stolen magelock pistols by her side, she might have been unrecognizable.

Her first act was to return to the estate of the baron that chased her from the mainland. Several days later the housekeeping staff discovered his drowned corpse, bloated with seawater despite being found by a smouldering fire in his living quarters and several leagues inland. Since that time, Malroan has been spotted several more times during raids on coastal villages and outposts, a wicked grim perpetually struck across her cold features.

Once at risk of falling out of memory, Malroan’s legend has resurfaced in Five Fingers and steadily spread across all of Ord. On bleak nights when the mist sits along the Broken Coast like a shroud, she returns to haunt the old dens from her mortal life, each time to challenge a new foe to a duel in the deadly fighting pits.

Where will you stand when the dead set sail?

The Dread Armada is already making waves. Cryx Dread Armada launches October 15 in STL form, so get ready to print, paint, and play this major new army using the free rules in the Warmachine app.

If you missed the previous lore dive, discover the story of Skarre Ravenmane, Queen of the Dread Armada and how she came to command Cryx’s feared blackship fleet.
