Mr Biscuit, like many people in the TTRPG space tends to wear a great many hats, and in his case, he's a creator of D&D 5e Supplements (on both Kofi and Drivethrurpg under the name of BiscuitTinRPG), a streamer of actual play games (Fridays Red Opera: Last days of the Warlock and Saturdays as a player in City of Illumination) and also a huge fan of getting feedback on what he writes so that he can revise and keep the content balanced through revisions which are given away free to each person who's bought it. Here we had a chance to interview the creator and we bring his responses to you:
Totally Pawsome: As a creator of modules for TTRPG's, what inspired you to write the one you're most proud of?
Mr Biscuit. While i don't necessarily do modules and im more geared towards character options, whether that be subclass, core class expansion, spells and my personal favorite Cursed Items, I would say that im most proud of the an upcoming release of The First Gate: A menagerie of Madness, which is a look into a new realm of possibility a truly unknowable landscape city that exists outside of time and space between all the other planes. We made this a place that is more sandbox allowing storytellers to create their own things to bring into it while leaving enough open ended that we can add out own future expansions and ever growing lore to it. some of which is already available on my other outlets (kofi and such)
TP: What would you say is the best selling point of your TTRPG's?
MB: The best selling point for whay i offer is roleplay-ability. A lot of my stuff is not geared towards your power gamers its for the theatre kid in their hearts, it creates compelling story and fun arcs to add into the game,
TP: Why the TTRPG space?
MB: I picked this space because its open to creative thought and even if somebody already did something similar we can improve or put our own spin on it and the community is for the most part pretty inviting of such innovations.
TP: What is your favourite product that you produce and why?
MB: Favorite product that is currently in production would have to be a small release i did called The Reckoning, it was inspired by the band Within Temptation by the song of the same name, and its lore that describes the death of a plane and the magical catastrophe that happens as a world dies. I love this release and it even has a rule set on how to run the process yourself on a world and create a hell of a game or even just a small one-shot.
TP: Who do you think would love to play your TTRPG's and why?
MB: I think anybody that has a love for story and adventure in their heart would love this content, you can wish for the twisty edgelord character or even the pious yet misunderstood paladin and find something in my works that will inspire pure imagination (if not outright chaos.)
MB: Well since i started writing and creating maybe 2 years ago its been a slow build as i wanted to perfect my craft (which honestly im still doing) and since then i have found myself attached to various projects in one form or another (currently Storytellers Forge and their backerkit still going on for the Black Ballad where i helping with species development and player options) in five years i have no idea, i just hope that in that time people have enjoyed and continue to enjoy my work, its not about the money as this is purely a hobby with hopes of more.
TP: If you were given the time and opportunity to develop something unique, what would it be and why?
MB: Given time and money to produce something truly amazing, i think i would make a compendium similar to First Gate thats in process but have much more help on it (currently its me the co-creator and a few friends willing to read through and give me editing advice) but it would be done much more professionally, as it stands now, its beautiful but could be done so much better in terms of layout, being a two person operation is difficult at times.
TP: Who do you admire in the Independent TTRPG writing space and why?
MB: Admiration goes out to so many people in this sphere but fellow creative types like AbyssalBrews (@AbyssalBrews ) and
Pip (@SpicyEncounters) are my current heroes in terms of raw imagination.
TP: What got you into TTRPG's in the first place?
MB: A random invite to a friends house years ago where i first learned that DND was a thing, that led into other games like RIFTS, VTM, and other oddballs like paranoia but if not for them i would never have found my way into the creative space i am in today and even if they don't know it im thankful they brought me into their nerdy circles.
