FORTHCOMING BACKERKIT CAMPAIGN: Spawns of the Mindrender - Elderbrain

Our friends at Elderbrain updated us today about one of the items within their forthcoming Spawns of the Mindrender which launches live on the 5th May at 1200PM ET which is being run on Backerkit and if you follow early you get a delightful 15% off as a follower discount code.

Todays update brings to the table The Vordani Battletech:

The Vordani reject magic, so they have mastered machinery instead. Their answer to spellcasters, monsters, and rival clans is Battletech: brutal exosuits and weapon systems powered by kinetic energy and engineered for war. These devices appear throughout the campaign and can be operated, repaired, or mastered by characters who train in their use. Below is a full overview of all known Battletech gear found in the land of Vordan:

Battleframes are light, mobile exoskeletons worn over armor, built for frontline berserkers. They allow their wearers to wield oversized weapons with speed and stability:

Sawblade Arm – Spinning forearm disc that deals heavy slashing damage and tears deeper on crits.

Pulverizer Hammer – Piston-driven hammer delivering concussive blows, knocking enemies prone.

Lance Driver – Reinforced charging spike that deals extra damage after moving.

Spear Launcher – Short-range bolt launcher built into the frame.

Flayer Blades – Spinning shoulder blades that lash all nearby enemies.

Razor Ring Shield – A shield with a spinning blade that retaliates when foes miss.

Warhusks are heavy, nonmagical exoskeletal vehicles. They enhance Strength, boost AC, and turn their pilots into a walking siege engine. Warhusks impose penalties to Dexterity and movement, but massively enhance raw power and durability. A warhusk can carry three modular weapon systems from these options:

Sawblade Arm – High-damage rotating disc for brutal melee attacks.

Pulverizer Hammer – Piston hammer that knocks targets prone.

Lance Driver – Armor-piercing strike with bonus charge damage.

Flame Belcher – Shoulder-mounted flamethrower (20-ft cone).

Spear Launcher – Heavy bolt launcher dealing serious piercing damage.

Flayer Blades – Spiked chains that shred nearby creatures.

Saw Shield – Reactive spinning shield that damages attackers.

Vordani ammunition and specialty bolts are used with crossbows or mounted ballistae.

Chain Bolt – Fires a trailing chain to pull targets or anchor shots.

Shrapnel Bolt – Explodes into shards on impact.

Ignition Bolt – Ignites targets and flammable terrain.

Shredder Bolt – A spinning, embedded disc that continues shredding on the next turn.

Vordani bombs are thrown mechanical grenades engineered for battlefield control. Some of the more unique ones are:

Ooze Bomb – Acid burst that slows enemies and creates difficult terrain.

Mold Bomb – Necrotic spore cloud that poisons and blinds.

Rust Bomb – Corrosive dust that weakens nonmagical metal weapons and armor.

Also those who have signed up also get the opportunity to vote to Shape the Adventure by casting your vote in their latest poll that decides the nature of the creature(s) that inhabit the dungeon that they're about to create.

Spawn of the Mindrend is set to be 2014 and 2024 Dungeons and Dragons compatible and with this, you get:

A Sandbox Campaign and Kingdom Map

20+ Unique Dungeon Maps,

24 New Subclasses (two for each class)

50+ New Monsters

30+ Unique Magical Weapons, Poisons and Tools

20+ Unique Spells and Feats

WARHAMMER ADEPTICON REVEAL SHOW 2026: Bad production - Warhammer

aving sat down to watch the Warhammer broadcast from Adepticon last night at 1AM (I'm in the UK), I have to say that I did feel that the show was OK but plagued with so many problems.

Firstly the technical side was the key thing with broken mic's, inability to show the trailers and a few cuts as either technical issues caused problems or in one case, the stream ended abruptly because connection was lost to their server.

Adam Troke, picked up the MVP last night as he kept it going despite all the issues, engaging the audience and also keeping the talk flowing with his immense knowledge whilst problems were worked out.  Definitely a superstar for GW and man who probably deserves a pay rise after that effort.

However for me, whilst I was really enthusiastic for the show, I did feel let down, the key for the whole 2 hour broadcast (which was shortened down to an hour and half) was going to be the reveal for the 11th Edition of Warhammer 40K: Armageddon.  It had us all on the edges of our seats and whilst we opened with some fab mini's for the prelude with Yarrick and Wazdakka (the fab mini you see below), it felt that it was missing a lot as pretty much all of the real reveals were for the Imperial Guard and we had just the one Ork Mini.  I mean come on, least you could have done would have been to show some new Ork Bikers that Wazdakka is leading.

Then they revealed some new box sets for the Armageddon Battalions, which felt that if you weren't buying Imperial Guard would mainly be mini's you already own.  When they had the opportunity to really bring the speed to the table for the future edition by allowing players to try it out prior to the full 11th Edition release in June.

Now to finish off the 40K thread, the reveal at the end was pretty much a damp squib in my opinion.  We got to see one new mini for the Blood Angels and one new mini for the Orks.  Both were the basic troopers and lets be honest whilst I can understand that, its not anything to get excited about with them also announcing some rules changes that weren't explained very well and finally doing away with the objective circles whilst announcing that they will be replaced with scenic objectives (although personally I think rather than buy the GW ones, you'd be best to make your own as they can be themed to your board and army.)

All in, 40K was a real let down and as a guy who was super excited for the Orks and the rumours of new mini's.  This was an opportunity sadly missed.  I do suspect that with it releasing in June, that there will be another show about the end of April, beginning of May where they will reveal more.

Whilst I really didn't care for Horus Heresy there were some new miniatures announced including weapons as well as transports and Warhammer Underworlds was also represented with a set that really didn't do anything for me either, but at least Age of Sigmar delivered with so many goodies that I was pretty much goggle=eyed for this presentation.  Tons of stuff for the Cities of Sigmar with new units announced, including mages, Gate Gargants, a monument for the lost soldiers that is transported to a new city as well as Free Guild Gallants and the Free Guild Grenadiers.  All rounded up with a Regiment of RenownL Ven Densts Hounds and a new box set coming called Spearhead: Cities of Ash which bring the new minis alongside the long await Clan Eshin assassins to the battlefield.

Yet whilst we were all trying to catch our breaths from this monumental reveal, they hit us hard with what I think will be that cream of the crop from this years announcements, the Cogforts which come with Cities of Sigmar troops but can be utilised by any other army for their own forces.  They delightful thing here will be to see how these get modded by players for painting competitions as well as for their own battles.  (My personal favourite is going to be a Skaven themed one which I already have idea's for myself.)

To say that it wasn't worth staying up so late last night is something that I think a fair few people would have agreed with, and I do know that a lot switched off due to the broadcast quality deciding to wait until today to watch the releases through their official trailers and to be fair, I can't say I blame them.  But when GW does another live show, I really hope that either they pay their dues to the Machine God or that they at least invest some more money into it to avoid a lot of these problems.  They are not a small streamer with only a few bits, this is a multi-billion pound company.  To fail this badly when last years show also had huge problems again, really feels that lessons are not being learned and that whilst a lot of things are getting heavy price increases it feels more profit driven than improving certain qualities that they need to do to keep relevant when so many other game companies are snapping at their heels with products that are not only cheaper but are grabbing peoples attention with simpler rules and more story driven aspects which they're finally looking to bring to the table.

With the recent loss of one of our (TM's) childhood heroes and Action Hero star, our friends at Crippled God Foundry, have asked us to let you know that they've brought out their tribute to Chuck Norris.  Free through their website where they had this to say:
Chuck Norris has inspired us through his films and iconic characters.

This miniature is our tribute to a legendary warrior, a remarkable man, and a true artist.

Chuck Norris — The legend lives on!

As you can see its beautifully sculpted, looks fab and of course we can't wait to see the painted up versions that people will do, add some real Karate to your campaign and remember, that Tarasque isn't all that, after all when he (CN) lands in your world, those monsters will be checking under their beds to make sure he isn't there.

KICKSTARTER (In more ways than one): Dreadball All-Stars - Mantic Games

Hail Mighty Rollers of the Dice Gods,

Our friends at Mantic Games have let us know about their brand new kickstarter which went live last night and runs through to 11pm on Thursday 9th April 2026.  Beware, get your coaches hats ready, prepare for epic Orksomeness (well we are Juggernauts Fans) as Saturday Nights will never be the same again.

Designed by Blood Bowl creator Jervis Johnson, veteran games designer Alessio Cavatore, and acclaimed artist Stefan Kopinski, Dreadball All Stars will give you sixty minutes of non stop carnage as mega‑corporations bankroll brutal entertainment for the masses.

“All Stars is like a full-contact version of NBA Basketball, with lots of opportunities to score, and just as many opportunities to flatten the opposition!”

- Designer, Jervis Johnson.

Which to be honest is our way of thinking.  We're not much into the scoring aspect but hey, if the other team is incapacitated already, you may as well get a point or two.  lol

Each game is played in one of four unique arena's (our favourite is the Battle Royale) where your six players seek to gain the adoration of the crowds by scoring and maiming as legendary players, each build their career, as you learn to master their quirks, their skills and tactical advantages.

Sign up now to avoid disappointment as its already hit its goal and charging headlong to the launch date, ready to roll.  With various pledge price points, that'll grab your attention and our personal favourite of the All in Upgrade (which is there at £199) it'll have you with everything available and ready to roll for a good nights krumpin. Lets get it on.

All the best,

ThunderMouser.

MINIATURE SCENERY DESIGN: Dark Dungeons - Dark Fantastic Mills

Hail Mighty Readers and Followers of the Math's Dice,

Our friends at Dark Fantastic Mills, who have been really sneaky and teasing tasters of what they've been working on the last few weeks, have revealed it all upon their website for you to order right now.  If you love dungeoneering, are looking for something delightful for you to send your party into and best of all you can piece it together to fit whatever scenario you have planned.  Whilst its not currently available as an STL, it is something that will definitely help make your live play way more fun.

Available now in their webshop you can purchase it either as one giant set or by piece whilst allows you to tailor it to own personal taste and with so many options, you really will be sending that party way into the depths, just make sure they have plenty of health potions or a well rested cleric.  lol.

Ideal for games like Warcry (or as I plan to use it as a way to have fabulous 3d terrain for D&D as well as Warhammer Quest (the original now the new Dark Water), there are so many options that you'll be spoiled for choice.  (I am also planning on designing my own card set for each piece so that each time my players enter a dungeon they're designing it as they go along as far as their torches can reveal.  Its definitely going to be pretty epic.

Finally add to this the other wonderful design pieces from their Necrosia sets as well as their Death Temple Kickstarter and you have one hell of an epic option for everything to happen within.  We can't wait to game.

You can also keep up with them via their podcast available here.
