"Mana Vault and the Heralds Behind the Table

A growing Malediction scene needs more than a single table. It needs a place where players can return, learn, teach, test lists, meet opponents, and turn a first demo into a local habit. In Pleasant Grove, Utah, Mana Vault Game Shop has become one of those places.

Across the events recorded at Mana Vault, 16 Malediction sessions have already been held, with Heralds including Jason Norman, Migual Mahr, and Patrick helping bring the game to the table. Our friends at Army Painter, wanted us to pass the news on about the new updated Speedpaint 2.0 Range that they produce, especially now that a lot of people are trying to get mini's painted in a fairly quick time to take part in the current Armageddon fight off.

With all our participants introduced in our last article, it’s time to discover which factions they chose and see their very first test model(s) for their warbands. A test model is a vital part of most people’s painting workflow, as it lets you test out the colour scheme you have in your mind, see if it gels, and work out any kinks in the process. This is when you can experiment with ideas and paints you may not be familiar with. 

For several of our participants, this is also their first foray into the grimdark setting of Trench Crusade and a perfect opportunity to get to grips with the vibes of this hell-stricken version of 1914 Europe. To see the full rules and guidelines for the Arena Challenge, what we’re affectionately calling a “Hobby Escalation League,” you can check out our first instalment. As a quick reminder, though, unlike a normal campaign of Trench Crusade, the only way for our participants to earn Glory points to spend on upgrades and mercenaries is with the Hobby Glorious Deeds table below. This is something we’ll be keeping track of for you (and them) during each instalment."

What Ho, my good chaps, 

Coming from Konflikt 47 new plastic Automated Platoons for the British Commonwealth.  

First up is the Mk IIC Automated Director. This is a new leader for your British Commonwealth Platoons, and really what makes the new Automated Platoon work as a whole. It functions as a Platoon Commander and can issue Snap to Action! orders, though it doesn’t give a Morale bonus to friendly troops – not a problem for Automated Infantry who all have the Fearless rule. Like the Mk IIs, it removes the First off the Line rule from nearby units that have it, so long as both units have an Active Rift Die. They’ve taken the opportunity to streamline this rule, which they’re now calling Data Transmission, and put it on the Mk II unit profiles because it’s clearer, and also allows us to combine with other rules more easily.

Don’t laugh… but you cannot even trust the dead to stay dead — I have seen dead soldiers clamber from the murky waters of the Stir, board a barge, and tear a man to pieces, I swear by Sigmar.
