Hail Mighty Readers, Followers of the Luck Gods Math Rocks,
OK, we got two of the six boxes this time, however of the four guesses two were completely wrong, so how did we do? What do we think of these AoS Christmas Boxes and what are we tempted to buy to build up another fantasy force or add to one we already own:
Warhammer Age of Sigmar
Faction: Stormcast Eternals: Annihilation Host
Whats in the Box
Harbinger of Decay
Lord of Blights
3 Sloven Knights
5 Putrid Blightkings
10 Rotswords
14 Pox-Wretches
6 Mire Kelpies
How'd We Do?
There were too many new mini's for them not to do a box set, however we really thought that with other boxes having a named character that they would have included Festus the Leechlord. However if you own the Warhammer Quest: Dark Water box you already own the Pox Wretches, the Mire Kelpies,
What do we think?
For us you get one of the coolest Chaos sculpts in our opinion, the Lord of Blights, that mini is iconic and looks fab on the tabletop. All round a solid enough box set with the Sloven Knights being able to be led by the Lord of Blights, the Rotswords being good enough to hold up the enemy so that the Blight Kings can charge in from the side to wipe out what you face whilst the pox wretches and Mire kelpies being OK to hold up the enemy forces whilst your stronger forces get there to kill them.
BOXES WE DIDN'T GUESS:
Whats in the Box
Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of the Parch
Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal
10 Freeguild Cavaliers
How'd We Do?
We had heard the name but went the way of the Stormcast Eternals so to get a fast moving battle force is definitely interesting from the box set of things.
What do we think?
To be honest, if you collect CoS, then you probably already own both Tahlia Vedra and the Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal. This is pretty much the sort of thing we were expecting with a fast moving force which if you double up with a friend who's utilising Stormcast Eternals is going to be a pretty hard hitting duo against your foes. But as a starter set if you don't own either of the two character mini's is going to be a solid start to build off, pair it with some Fusiliers, maybe some Steelhelms and an Ironweld Cannon and it should be a pretty solid set.
Faction: Orruk Warclans: Grunta Stampede
Whats in the Box
Tuskboss on Maw-Grunta
Maw-Grunta Gouger
6 Gore-Gruntas
How'd We Do?
Nope didn't guess.
What do we think?
Fast moving box set, pretty tanky and to be honest you'll probably hear your inner ork screaming in delight "stompy stompy stompy, nom nom nom."
Faction: Nighthaunt: Court of the Undying King
Whats in the Box
Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead
2 Dreadblade Harrows
10 Dreadscythe Harridans
10 Bladegheist Revenants
10 Grimghast Reapers
How'd We Do?
Nope didn't guess.
What do we think?
Looks OK, plenty of troops and of course led by the most feared Undead Lord in the Realms.
Faction: Slaves to Darkness: Legion of Damnation
Whats in the Box
Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount
5 Chaos Chosen
3 Varanguard
5 Chaos Knights
10 Chaos Warriors
How'd We Do?
Nope didn't guess.
What do we think?
Good Tanky battleforce with foot soldiers to hold up the enemy and do some decent damage on their own which when added to the mounted knights are going to be pretty unstoppable. Feels pretty decent.
.
COMPLETELY WRONG GUESSES
Warhammer Age of Sigmar
Faction: Khazalite Holds
Why?
Announced recently in the Autumn reveal show, the box set for these seems like a great way to get them out without having to take a separate week out of the busy schedule for the Holidays. The only other thing that might appear here instead would be the Fyreslayer Regiment of Renown that is coming too. Would definitely be a popular purchase.
Why?
With there having been a few new releases for this faction this year, would make a good starter set for someone wanting to start up a new army. Loads of the new sculpts and a few surprises within we suspect that would give you a rounded force to start with of about 500 points.
Definitely a force with troops we like within and with the concept of their origin will definitely attract quite a few players.
Answer: Nope Completely wrong.
All the best,
ThunderMouser
